�hnlich wie im Bereich bildende Kunst versteht sich Nigeria auch in der Musik als afrikanische Gro�macht. Dies gilt sowohl f�r traditionelle als auch f�r zeitgen�ssische Musik.

Im Gegensatz zu den frankophonen Nachbarl�ndern, wo sich der so genannte Zaire-Sound als Musikrichtung mehr und mehr durchsetzt, hat der Musikliebhaber in Nigeria die Auswahl zwischen verschiedenen Stilen: die Palette reicht vom traditionellen Dun-Dun-Orchester bestehend aus so genannten "talking drums" bis zum Afro Beat, vom Fuji und Juju zum Jazz-Funk.

Die sprechende Trommel "talking drum" der Yoruba ist ein Instrument in Form einer Sanduhr, das der Tonsprache dieses Stammes verbl�ffend �hnlich ist. Das Wort kann mit ihr zu Geh�r gebracht werden. Durch eine Modulation des jeweiligen Wortes in L�nge, Tonh�he und Pausen wird es so verdeutlicht, dass sie "talking drum" von jedem Yoruba verstanden wird.
